southwest colorado got quite a bit of rain dumped on it in the middle of october. rain was definitely needed, but not all at once. seems to be the way it goes globally these days: drought or biblical flood. the animas had quite a bit of flow and rafters come out to take advantage. it wasn’t the beautiful, clear, blue-green water. it was murky brown & debris riddled. but, adrenaline junkies are gonna get their fix.

i got off work and saw several rafts drift by. the river in front of the apartment is pretty lazy. there are some short rapids north and south of us. i haven’t photographed much lately and i needed to scratch that itch. i grabbed my camera, the 90mm lens, and took off to the south rapids which is known as whitewater park. i stopped to capture two rafts that i saw floating along and then i had to hustle to make it over to the rapids in time to be there when they went through. nothing like a brisk 1 mile run while holding a camera.

looked like a ton of fun. somewhere between type i and type ii.
